The data set was created to aid the Arkansas Fire Pension Review Board in determining turn back funds to the fire districts that participate in a pension plan.
This data set represents the fire districts throughout the State of Arkansas.

The fire districts are certified by each county fire coordinator, County Judge, and 911 coordinator if applicable. Each county was certified as of December 15, 2005.

Each certified boundary was merged together forming a statewide data set
County maps with physical features and PLSS were supplied to the county
Data set was loaded into GeoStor
Files were digitized using orthos and physical features.
Digital files were supplied back to the county for certification. Certification required the signature of authorized county officials stating the bounadry was correct.
Each coordinator provided UALR GIS Applications Laboratory with drawn maps, supplied map (step 1) marked up, and/or digital files
