Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission Natural Areas
This layer was created to delineate the approximate boundaries of areas in which the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission holds either a conservation easement or fee title.
The Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission is a state agency within the Department of Arkansas Heritage. It holds fee title or restrictive conservation easements on lands in the state of Arkansas. These areas are referred to as “Natural Areas.” They were acquired by the agency because they protect an important aspect of the state’s natural diversity. Frequently, they provide habitat to rare, endangered, or threatened species, or are high quality examples of natural community types. The areas are managed to support these special features and are protected in perpetuity.Contact Information:Cindy Osborne, Data ManagerArkansas Natural Heritage Commission1500 Tower Building323 Center StreetLittle Rock, AR 72201Phone: 501-324-9762Fax: 501-324-9618e-mail: cindy@arkansasheritage.orgSource of Data:Deeds and survey documents.Mapping Information:Natural Area boundaries have been created as polygons in ArcGIS software.
