This dataset was compiled under the direction of the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Board for the purpose of serving as a statewide resource for geocoding situs address database tables. The dataset may also be used for cartographic display, as a base map or geographic reference to other map features, a component of a transportation asset management system and numerous other purposes.
This dataset contains line features which represent the road centerline of all clearly defined passages through which a vehicle may travel. The features in this dataset have been accepted as meeting or exceeding the requirements set forth in the Arkansas Centerline File (ACF) Standard, although some of the features in this dataset still need to have zip code left and right attributes corrected or added. The ACF Standard states that the road centerline must be 10 meters or better in horizontal accuracy and contain attributes required for geocoding situs address databases. The National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) was utilized to determine the horizontal accuracy of each independent data source. Counties within this file include: Arkansas, Ashley, Baxter, Benton, Bradley, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Chicot, Clark, Clay, Cleburne, Cleveland, Columbia, Conway, Crawford, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Franklin, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Greene, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Little River, Logan, Lonoke, Madison, Marion, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Montgomery, Nevada, Newton, Ouachita, Perry, Phillips, Pike, Poinsett, Polk, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Randolph, Saline, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sevier, Sharp, St. Francis, Stone, Union, Van Buren, Washington, White, Woodruff, Yell.Addendum: ARNOLD/ MAP-21ARNOLD stands for “All Roads Network Of Linear referenced Data”MAP-21, the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (P.L. 112-141), was signed into law by President Obama on July 6, 2012. Funding surface transportation programs at over $105 billion for fiscal years (FY) 2013 and 2014, MAP-21 is the first long-term highway authorization enacted since 2005.MAP-21 is a milestone for the U.S. economy and the Nation’s surface transportation program. By transforming the policy and programmatic framework for investments to guide the system’s growth and development, MAP-21 creates a streamlined and performance-based surface transportation program and builds on many of the highway, transit, bike, and pedestrian programs and policies established in 1991.The Arkansas GIS Office is working with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to retool the existing Arkansas Centerline File by adding Road Inventory information, road ownership and other valuable attributes.
